Anthony began working on the New Phonograph project shortly after moving to Prague in January of 2018. He manages audio transfer and digitisation, as well as more general project-related duties. As a musician, Anthony has performed as a contrabassist with Jazz and folk groups, as well as larger ensemble work for orchestras and big bands in Scotland. His freelance recording and production work includes a number of promotional films and music videos, short films, and generative audiovisual works. Published recordings include Crying Lion’s The Golden Boat and Drew Mulholland’s the Norwood Variations. He has also recorded concerts, including a number of world premieres, for Bill Sweeney, the Erik Chisholm Trust, Duo Van Vliet, and Scottish Opera, among many others. A recording of Alexander Kastalsky’s Requiem for Fallen Brothers is awaiting release. Other work related to sound engineering includes a bespoke interactive tactile sound system for Scottish Opera’s Kid O, which toured Scotland in 2015. Outside of the audio field, Anthony has worked as a public relations specialist, focusing on ghostwriting thought-leadership articles, social media content, and general copywriting for technology companies including Dropbox, Cubic, Bing and AppDynamics. As a composer, Anthony continues to explore generative music using MaxMSP and SuperCollider, and also more traditional compositional techniques, where his main interests lie in contemporary compositional styles, drawing influence from the likes of Stockhausen, Berio, Xanakis and Pärt.
