Michal Hora

Michal Hora has been working for 35 years at the National Library of the Czech Republic in Prague (NL). He graduated from musicology and librarianship studies, publishing works on the role of physical music carriers in the history of culture, and about the influence of recording and distribution of music on the music itself. From 1990, he worked in the NL in the Music Department, where he was involved in various musical library activities from acquisition and processing to bibliographic and reference services. Thanks to the societal change following 1989, he was given the chance to become a member of the management of the library, where he worked mainly in organizational and managerial positions until 2005. He was also chair of organizational committees of IAML (1991) and LIBER (1999) international conferences in Prague. He was also a member of the NL Crisis Staff in the Klementinum during the floods in 2002. In 2006, he returned to his professional work. He used his broad interests in 2006-2010 to analyze and document the collection of rare modern bibliophiles. Since 2011, he has been involved in building handwritten catalogues of the NL studios. At the same time, since 2015, he has returned to the subject of audio documents in various aspects of the area. In addition to the partial tasks in the project, he acts as a supervisor of New Phonograph.
