It all started with mum’s old Sanyo M18. The fascination by cassette recorders soon grew into everlasting love of sound.

With a background in philately and postal history, Marian upgraded his qualification at the Spektrum sound engineering school. In 2005, he established his own business, Digiphon, to process thousands of records, tapes, museum and private collections and archives as well as videos and movie films (8–35mm).

Five years later, his participation in the Prague, my love project marked the beginning of his long-term cooperation with FAMU, the Film and TV School of Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. His portfolio includes film location recording, sound design for both film and stage and running audio for small-scale concerts.

The New Phonograph project, which Marian joined in 2020 as a sound engineer, is the perfect melting pot for his interest in history, passion for vintage audio devices and a bit of a researcher spirit.

(Alas, no room for cats and 19th century fencing).
